Obligatory Star Trek on Family Guy Post

The full cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation was on Family Guy last night. (Also apparently Meg gets religion.) I didn’t see it then. But I’m watching it right now. So can you! Because it’s on Hulu.

(Here at Time we’ve invented a new kind of blog where you can’t embed Hulu videos. So a link is all you get.)

Obama’s Inner Geek: Robots to Flying Marshmallows

On Tuesday, Obama hosted the second White House Science Fair, an exhibit of more than 30 student projects that ranged from a system to detect nuclear threats to a prosthetic hand to portable disaster shelters. For nearly an hour, Obama toured the displays and visited with students, pressing them for details and admiring their work.

If you saw the preview clip that was released earlier, you’ve seen most of the TNG stuff.

Yeah, it was a bit of an anti-climax.

Wait a minute- you can’t find time to watch Battlestar Galactictica, but you can post on Family Guy (I don’t care how obligatorily)? I don’t know man, that sounds like a serious hit to your nerd cred.

Frak yeah, Anon76. Lev is too busy petting kangaroos and toasting literature to find the time to watch battlestar galactica!? As the mainstream media’s anointed nerd taste-maker, he has a fracking responsibility to at least toe-dip in major sci-fi developments, by the gods. I hold him personally responsible for the season-two ratings dip that led to the ill-advised self-contained story episodes.

Wait a second, here. Lev hasn’t watched BSG? I don’t even know what to say. It’s not like it’ll take long to watch the show’s entire run (I watched the entire series in 6 weeks leading up to the finale, and that’s with about 2 weeks of not being able to watch any).

  • Lev Grossman

It’s not that I HAVEN’T EVER watched BSG. I just don’t watch it as a regular thing. I don’t know why, I never caught the virus. I accept the mandatory deduction in cred.

I did meet Nicki Clyne once though.

Its a frakking outrage!!! Best case scenario, Lev’s silence on BSG is Lev’s his attempt to end the aeon-long cycle of Cylon- Human wars, in the form of further BSG reboots, sequels, etc.

The link is broken! The horror! I clicked the link to Hulu and got a “No longer available” message. Stupid Hulu.
