Swartzwelder Alert!

Will Google’s Insanely-Fast Kansas City Network Shame U.S. ISPs?

Google’s highly-anticipated plan to build an ultra-fast city broadband network kicked into gear Monday with the search giant’s announcement that it will begin laying miles of fiber-optic cable across Kansas City, Kansas and neighboring Kansas City, Missouri. Google said it aims to create a new “high speed infrastructure” that will allow local citizens to enjoy data speeds 100 times the national average. Google’s goal? Just for that single Simpsons line, I’m sold. Of course I enjoy humorous takes on sci-fi and fantasy, so that doesn’t hurt either.

Excellent. Thanks for turning us on to the mis-adventures of Frank Burly, and for explaining that it was Swartzwelder’s image that was randomly added to all of those episodes, and not David Crosby, as I had previously thought. That makes a bit more sense.

I’ll add my thanks, I had never heard of the books until the last post, but now I’ve read most of them and they make great gifts, too.

These books are well worth your time and hard earned money. They’ll melt your face with pure humor. Thanks for the update on the pennings of Mr. Swartzwelder. Maybe you have already, but Matt, you should definitely do a book. You’re easily one of the best writers and very funny on the Simpsons commentaries.
