In case you haven’t noticed, video games have become frequent fodder for movies. In fact, games are so hot in Hollywood right now that producers aren’t even waiting for the title to come out before they decide to adapt it.

Like Capcom’s Dark Void. Today it was announced that Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment has acquired the rights to turn the sci-fi action game into a feature flick, even though gamers won’t be able to get their hands on it until January 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

I suppose Pitt and co. must think the game’s a surefire hit. The game’s plot does sound like the stuff proper action movies are made of: Dark Void centers on a pilot who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle, only to discover an alternate world filled with technologically advanced aliens planning to take over mankind.

To boot, from early impressions, the title does have gamers excited for its blend of third-person, Gears of War-style action and jet pack-enabled, Rocketeer-type flying.

No word on whether Pitt himself will star in the flick, but we have high hopes for it — so long as director Uwe Boll stays away… far, far away.
