If you were visiting Rockefeller Center in New York City this past Saturday, you may have noticed throngs of people getting drenched while a DJ spun innocuous hits from Coldplay.

The rain-soaked ruckus was all for the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii at the Nintendo World Store, where Mario fans were able purchase their copy of game a day before anyone else.

The launch event also included gaming stations for people to try the game, costumed Mario characters and a New Super Mario Bros. Wii gaming tournament. But one of the biggest attractions was the Super Mario Bros. museum, which featured random merchandise and games from Mario’s past like lunch boxes, shampoo, bedsheets and walkie-talkies, to name a few.

Techland was there to see the Mario madness. Take a look and check out Peter’s review.
