Alien dismemberment rules. So that’s why we’re glad that Electronic Arts has finally officially announced Dead Space 2.

The sequel to last year’s critically-acclaimed, third-person survival horror game will feature the same protagonist, Isaac Clarke, as he wields “new tools to gruesomely slice and dismember” the creepy, Thing-like alien race of Necromorphs.

According to the press release, “In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

It’s good to know that despite the first game’s disappointing sales and the company’s new business strategy, EA remains committed to the franchise.

Dead Space 2 will be developed by the same studio, EA-owned Visceral Games, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No release date yet, but we’re hoping to see it very soon.
