Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 Characters Meet in New DLC

Today Valve announced the first downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2.

And if you thought just four characters were loquacious for a game about killing zombies, now we’re getting eight characters all at once. The add-on, called “The Passing,” takes place after Left 4 Dead 2‘s Dead Center campaign, which will have players encounter the characters from the original Left 4 Dead game.

“The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign,” said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve in the press release.

The DLC will also include new maps for the Survival, Versus and Scavenge modes as well as a new co-op challenge mode, a new “uncommon common” zombie type, a new melee weapon and new firearm.

No pricing has been announced yet, but “The Passing” is slated for release in early Spring for PC and Xbox 360.

    I’d expect the DLC for PC to be free, as Valve always does for PC. They know better than to do otherwise, might spark a little PR storm if they did throw a price tag on it.

    I agree with Yanguang about the pricing. Played with some people earlier who were talking about different scenarios that would need two teams of 4 people to complete … trying to imagine a two-step event process. Mmmm

    Steam = dirtydata

    but they did charge for the crash course campaign in the original one, im pretty sure they will charge for it as the first DLC for the first one was free because it was to complete a game that should have already had those features.
