Want an Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle?

Hello Techland Readers-

Hope this finds you well. In the spirit of holiday fun and other shenanigans, we’ve teamed up with the Xbox team to bring you two chances to win an Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle that includes – you guessed it – an Elite Xbox 360, one wireless controller, headset and copies of Lego Batman and Pure.

We have two trivia questions for you to answer:

• Let’s say someone says to you, “Let’s go check out that hare scramble?” What does s/he mean by a “hare scramble?”

• In what comic and issue did Batman make his debut?

But that’s not all. Tell us in 140 words or less why you deserve one of the two holiday bundles in comments.

Don’t forget to follow Techland on Twitter as well as the staff (Lev, Peter, Steve, Tracey) and fan us on Facebook because we’ll drop hints there as well on how to win the second holiday bundle.

You now have your assignment. We will announce the winners on Friday at 4PM ET. Good luck.

I’d love to win one, as I recently gave my 360 to my young cousin, as his broke, and his dad is on strike, so they can’t really afford a new one this year.

    1) A hare scramble == motorcycle racing. It doesn’t come up regularly in casual conersation.

    2) Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27

I’d love to win one so I can give one to my father in the hopes of getting him to play some games.

Trivia: Hare Scramble is off road motorcycle racing and Batman originally appeared in Detective Comics #27 from the 30s

I deserve a Xbox 360 bundle because I’m a PS fangirl who could use a little diversity in my life and I have a HH full of gamers :)

Hare scramble is a off road dirt bike contest to maintain the highest speed. Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27. And I think I deserve the Xbox bundle because I am an avid gamer that is too broke to buy one. I haven’t even had a chance to play the best games like Gears of War, Fable II, or Left 4 Dead 2. Not to mention I enjoy your tweets. In fact you should tweet more often!

I’d love to win one because my launch xbox 360 died on me less than 2 weeks before Christmas and I know my wife had already bought me 2 games for it. Please let me win so I can enjoy my gifts on Christmas.

    1) a crazy kind of off-road motorcycle racing.
    2) issue #27 of Detective Comics (1936, I believe it was)

My daughter came up with a deal: help her sell her Xbox (which her brother gave to her) and she’ll use the money to buy a 360. I’m all for it because I can also use it to watch Netflix online movies on my TV. Problem is, I hate selling stuff on ebay–I mean, it really stresses me out, I don’t know why–and I’ve been putting it off. Winning this one would let me off the hook. How about it?

I could use a 360 because my last console was a Dreamcast. This really hurts my nerd credibility!

  • alaskanturkey

Um, so if we’re doing this in the comments section, the two questions seem kind of pointless right? That being said, what bdavid81 and loonyboi said for questions 1 and 2.

As for why I deserve it – First, I’m the first person to suggest that for the next challenge you ask people to email you the answers to your questions. Second, I’m such a great husband that I threw out my Wii when my wife complained that I was spending more time with it than her. Now I would like to bring an Xbox360 into the house because it would obviously end in a completely different wholly positive way.

Hare scramble is the name given to a particular form of off-road motorcycle racing. Traditionally a hare scramble can vary in length and time with the contestants completing multiple laps around a marked course through wooded or other rugged natural terrain. The overall winner is awarded to the contestant who maintains the highest speed throughout the event. According to Wikipedia.

Also according to Wikipedia, the definitive source for all of my information needs:

Detective Comics #27 (May 1939) featured the first appearance of Batman (as “The Bat-Man”). That superhero would eventually become the star of the title, the cover logo of which is often written as “Detective Comics featuring Batman”.

Why do I deserve to win? Because the black Xbox will match my home decor much better than my white one currently does. Secondly my headset is broken, thirdly I lost my controllers anyway so my white Xbox is worthless as is. Lastly because I am willing to do the wikiresearch to throughly answer the questions and sadly everyone else seems content to copy each others answers.

The Xbox prize package would be a great way to bring my family together for some hi-tech fun, because nothing says Merry Christmas like killing video game zombies and crashing imaginary cars at high speed.

    2) Detective comics 27

I want to win because my 360 got the dreaded RRoD in October and it was no longer covered by warrenty plus I am currently out of work so I cannot buy a replacement. I havent been able to play ODST, Shadow Complex and the Ballad of Gay Tony. Plus I need to play mass effect 2! Yea I know it’s a sob story but its the truth lol.

  • dutchdegay

    1) Hare scrambles are usually off road dirt bike races over rugged natural terrain. Tracks range from 2.5 miles to 40 miles in length and are made up of a combination of jeep trails, two tracks, tight single track trail, grass tracks, and sometimes portions of BMX tracks. Events are run for a designated number of laps or for a prescribed race time, typically two hours. Riders not only need to be fast, but also physically fit enough to maintain a race pace for hours at a time.

2)”Batman”, “the Caped Crusader”, “the Dark Knight” or “the World’s Greatest Detective”, (created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger) first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939.

    3) Christmas is that time of year when you’re made to hang out with friends and family, most of which you dislike. Since I can’t get rip roaring drunk like I’d like to (family noticing “Dutch is drunk again” is not the best thing at holiday gatherings), the only way to escape that hell is through the magical world of/on Xbox 360. Please help me escape!

The sun still hours from rising, I would wake up to the sounds of Ma making eggs and Pa stomping around in his boots. Lighting a small lantern, I would yawn, throwing on some clothes and shuffling into my shoes.

Pa would already be outside milking the cattle as I shoveled eggs in my mouth, though I would soon follow suit with dog, Rascal, ran circles between my legs, far less bleary eyed than myself. Even after finishing milking, I had yet to gather eggs and tend to our small crop of corn. Only 12 years old, this was my routine.

Having never even owned an electrical appliance, I yearned for the day when I could get an apartment in the city, fully furnished with electricity, running water, a toilet, and an Xbox 360 packaged with Lego Batman and Pure.

I don’t have a fancy story as to why I want or deserve a 360. I, like many others, just want one to game with friends, in my case online because that’s all that keeps me connected to my best friends these days. Hopefully that’s enough to consider me :)

I would like the bundle because on my last relationship I developed a videogame addiction. Ever since I finished Super Mario World on the SNES of my brother I did not touch a video game because I thought that after that any game would be lame. But on my last relationship my boyfriend was a video game fan so I began playing and enjoying games again, I loved to nail crazy solos on Guitar Hero, to smash zombie heads on Gears and to win frenetic races on Pure.

Now he dumped me and I do not know anyone with a console, I am a grad student so anything asides from food and shelter is out of my budget, my only fix is to enter to store and play for a minute or two their demos, please help me.

I can also provide you a college thesis tracking the evolution of the superhero archetype, as evidenced through the Batman mythos, compared to professor Thomas Schatz’ cinematic archetypes, from that issue through 1997 (when the thesis was written). (As a preview — the superhero archetype melds and wanders through a few of the classic archetypes identified by Schatz.)

I deserve the holiday bundle as not only am I bereft of one of the latest gaming systems (I sold my Wii on eBay upon completion of Zelda, which coincided with the birth of my first daughter), and the above, nerdy answer to No. 2.

Why I deserve it…let me count the ways…

I’m a poor doctoral student. To boot, I’m living in mid-Michigan. God decided to poop on this state more than all other states — aided by his fools in the state house and running MI’s biggest corporations. It’s really cold here, I live in a basement, and I need something to remind me that my life isn’t THAT bad. This would help me clear some of the negative thoughts.

Her youngest brother along with two teenage sisters moved in with her oldest sister. In an estrogen filled home, the only father figure he has is his brother who visits on the weekend. The best way they connect is through gaming, only system he has is a hand me down nintendo ds. This bundle would help him have a merry christmas!

1 – A hare scramble is a type of motorcycle racing.
2 – Batman debuted in detective comics #27

I think deserve isn’t the right word, but here goes.

I’ve been part of the same group of friends for six years now. We all met in college and love each other like brothers. Now we’re all in different places, and trying working on ways to maintain communication and our bonds. The main way we’ve found to do that, other than by text/phone/aim, is by playing Halo, just like we did years ago. My three friends are all getting 360s, but due to a rough year, I have more important things to spend money on. One of the bundles would complete our set, and let us keep on with the nightly (or as close to is as lives allow) madness and brotherhood.

I won’t say I deserve it, but it would be really great.

I will admit, I have a wii, but from what I have read from visiting the gaming section of techland every day is that the quality of gameplay for my wii will never be as good as that of the xbox, and that is why i would love to win this contest.

Why should I win an Xbox 360 Elite from you awesome guys? Well, it’s pretty obvious. I cause major ownage on the PlayStation Network, and I feel it’s time to destroy the Xbox 360 owners. It’s time I got on to Xbox Live and caused major ownage to them aswell. For many years, they have escaped my complete ownage, but you, TechLand, can change that and allow me to completely own them on Christmas Day, with your Xbox 360 Elite. I’d like the Elite version because it goes with me; I’m Elite (1337). Also, I’ve never had an Xbox before and would love to see what it’s like! Remember, it’s the amount of ownage that wins a match, not the gun. Cheers for giving away this Xbox!
