Best of the Decade: Characters

The greatest characters of the 2000′s from movies, TV, books, video games and comics. Basically anything that had fictional people in it was fair game. Or fictional cats. Or artificial intelligences.

[By the way I want to a) acknowledge that io9 already did this, and b) assert that we'd scheduled this before we knew they were doing it too, and c) admit that I was too lazy to come up with a new concept after their post went up.]

Yes, another top 10 list. When will we stop listing things? When you stop clicking on them, you mindless sheeple! /insane laughter

Actually I think we’re almost done.

glad you mentioned Brock Samson. VB is the probably one of my favorite animated shows of the decade (another list!). Dont forget, he cut open Edgar Allan Poe like a Tauntaun.
Alan Tudyk was perfect for Firefly.

Brock Samson gives this list immediate credibility. My personal favorite is when he’s speaking with his clone:

Brock 2: You’re going to kill him when he shows up, aren’t ya?
Brock 1: Oh, you know it.

Love the list. Anyone who has seen Venture Brothers loves Brock Sampson. As a character I’ve loved this decade in web comics is Richard from Looking for Group. Guy cracks me up and can kick some ass.

I’m glad Lev has a chance to see Serenity/FireFly on a list now.

Excellent list! Very happy to see GLaDOS there. Maybe the best video game character ever. In fact, I’d say one of Valve’s greatest assets is their ability to create colorful, believable and likable characters. Bioware, take note: just giving a character a lot to say doesn’t necessarily make them any more interesting (I hate when Bioware boasts about how many spoken lines of dialog their games have).
