A Message from Outer Space

Today, Expedition 22 Flight Engineer T.J. Creamer has tweeted where no man has tweeted before.

Until now, NASA astronauts were emailing their tweets to ground support where personnel would help them post to their Twitter accounts. Astronauts on the International Space Station were offered a software upgrade this week that gave them wireless Internet access.

Creamer, @Astro_TJ, was the first to test out the new system by sending out a tweet.

“Hello Twitterverse! We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station — the 1st live tweet from Space! More soon, send your ?s,” he wrote.

As of this afternoon the NASA_Astronauts Twitter account already has 19,000 followers.

However, don’t expect to be getting any insider information from their Twitter posts. As government employees, the astronauts are subject to the same guidelines that cover their Earth counterparts.

Still, that’s one small tweet for Twitter and a giant leap for NASA.

Review: Soulo Converts iPad into Karaoke Machine

Karaoke lovers typically fall into two categories: Those who enjoy it, and those whose arms have to be twisted to get up and sing in public. Enter Soulo, a software and microphone kit that can turn an iPad or other Apple device into a karaoke machine. It gives you instant karaoke in the privacy of your own home, or wherever you carry your Apple gadgets. That’s the idea, anyway.
