The iPad is here. This is what we know so far. We’ll update as we learn more.

1 GHz Apple A4 custom silicon chip (Apple’s own advanced chip)

Capacity:

16GB, 32GB,  64GB Flash

Wireless and Cellular:

Wi-Fi 802.11 (Automatically locates available Wi-Fi)

Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR (provides connectivity to accessories like wireless headphones or a wireless keyboard)

3G Version operates at a speed of up to 7.2 Mbps

Battery, Sensor, Etc.:

Accelerometer and compass. 30-pin connector, speaker microphone (30-pin dock connector is where the iPad connects to its dock, Camera Connection Kit or Keyboard Dock.

Battery life is 10 hours with a month of standby power

    well, that’s something but I’m not quite thrilled. What about the e-reader? I already have iphone and macbook so why do I need this ipad? Just for spending more?

    I think GPS & camera are missing sorely.
    I would prefer the cellular capabilities through tethering.

    Yes, it does have a speaker.

    But does it have a microphone? The touch does not, and you lose out on a lot of fun apps, recording, etc…

    Interesting that I have not seen comments here or elsewhere pro or con on not having a DVD player or any way to load portable content. Does this pretty much lock you into what you download? Might not be too good if you are not going to be near wifi or other connection.
