The Techland Show: Wii Suck Edition

As Peter and Lev were both out this week, Steve and I took over The Techland Show. (Muhahaha.)

Given free reign of the couch meant that the game of the week was also under our control. So what else could two non-gamers do when forced to pick up a controller, but seek out the nearest bit of comfy nostalgia? Plus let’s face it, Super Mario Brothers was the only name we recognized.

After “playing” – if that’s really even what you could call it – we have decided that playing SMB on a Wii leaves a hell of a lot to be desired. The game is no longer intuitive, and you just can’t complicate Mario and expect it to be fun. You just can’t.

We were also holding the controllers incorrectly. The whole time. And NO ONE said anything. (Thanks.)

Anywho, check out this week’s show for our collective thoughts on the iPad, Caprica and a pretty awesome giveaway.

Trying to Be Optimistic About a Google Music-Streaming System

The Wall Street Journal’s Amir Efrati and Ethan Smith are reporting that Google is working on a consumer-electronics system designed to stream music–and, eventually, maybe video and other media–around the home. Their story doesn’t have much in the way of detail, but does say that Google’s brainchild might be akin to a lower-cost version of Sonos’s excellent-but-pricey music-streaming products. Absent more details, there are several ways to respond to this sketchy bit of news.

The 12 Best Android Widgets for 2012

With all due respect to smartphone apps, sometimes you don’t want to open a new program just to get some quick info or perform a minor task. If I had that lost box set I honestly might have burned it, or pawned it for a Terry Schaivo action figure. But the Ipad at it’s whopping $830 price tag for the 3G function? For shame! Also, exactly how are you going to carry that around in addition to your laptop/netbook. Maybe I should patent the Isatchel and sell it for $150…

Ha I’d buy the Mother Teresa vs. the Undead comics. Anything vs. the undead is cool in my book. Maybe the next one can be Girl Scout Troop #666 vs. Undead……..

On a side note… The iPad…. ehhhhh….no multitasking WTF Apple???…. That’s all I have to say about that.
