Today in Techland: Award nominations made us take a look at the past year in sci-fi: the good, the bad and the Megan Fox. Peter brought us tidings of tech joy with word of the upcoming Google tablet, and we discovered that Calvin and Hobbes creator Bill Watterson granted his first interview in 20 years.

For everyone who’s been playing Mass Effect 2 day and night, pausing only for Red Bull, Cheetos and bathroom breaks, we need you to get some sleep, come back to Techland and tell us what you thought of Gary’s fantasy cast of a live-action ME movie. Charlize Theron? Christian Bale? You tell us.

Here’s what else going on in nerd news around the Web:

Cowboys and Aliens and Bears, Oh my. Actress Olivia Wilde will join Daniel Craig in upcoming sci-fi film Cowboys and Aliens. Recently, Craig took over the lead male role from Robert Downy Jr., who dropped out due to the rushed filming of Sherlock Homes 2.
What’s next for Joss Whedon? We’re still not sure, but E! Online posted a few comments Mr. Whedon made about his future at the Producers Guild Awards:Dr. Horrible turned from the little engine that could, to the little engine that destroyed Tokyo!,” said the humbled show runner of the award. “For [producers] to honor it, and what we’re continuing to try and accomplish on the Internet, means a great deal to me, because I see a lot of my future there. A lot of what I hope to accomplish in the next few years taking place there.” Joss also confirmed that there won’t be a Dollhouse comic. “We’ve done some comic books with Dr. Horrible, and it leads itself to it and it’s really fun. Dollhouse really doesn’t,” he explained. “It’s about people’s personality change, which is very hard to draw. It isn’t a comic book world. Dollhouse was Dollhouse, and now is next.”

Dr. Horrible the movie! Just a suggestion…

Now go watch LOST! (9 p.m. on ABC)
