Nintendo Dominates the 2000s

I would have never guessed it, but Nintendo dominated the last decade taking nine of the top 10 spots of best selling video games. The only title to crack the top 10 was Rockstar’s “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” with 18.15 million units sold, which pales in comparison to the 58.4 million copies of Wii Sports that were sold. The list of 50 best selling video games of the 2000s reads as if Sony, Microsoft, EA, Activision and everyone else don’t exist. Sony comes in at #13 with “Gran Turismo 3″ while Microsoft barely makes the top 20 with “Halo 3″ at #19. Activision’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″ made over a billion dollars or something ridiculous like that and slots in at #25 with 8.88 million copies sold. I simply cannot comprehend how dominant Nintendo was from 2000 to 2009.
