According to this report from the 13th Annual Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo over the weekend, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed Nintendo is working on a new piece of gaming hardware. Unless he was talking about another Nintendo DS redesign (DSi XXL?), Miyamoto was referring to a next generation Wii, which is rumored to finally deliver HD gaming.
This is hardly news considering somewhere on this planet successors to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are also on some engineers’ drafting tables. All I ask is that Nintendo keep the name simple because “Nintendo Wii MotionPlus XL HD” doesn’t roll off the tongue very smoothly.
