Things I Didn’t Know Existed Until Today: Defendor

I finally got around to watching “Zombieland” over the weekend and for whatever reason I watched the trailers that preceded the actual movie. One of them happened to be a trailer for Woody Harrelson’s upcoming Canadian superhero flick “Defendor.”

It doesn’t appear that Peter Stebbings’ character is based on an existing superhero, which is great, but Defendor actually offends the superhero fanboy in me. Why does he have to dress up like a “superhero” to do all the asinine things that he does? Why not pull a Punisher? Defendor actually seems like a silly play on Kick-Ass.

Here’s the story: “ARTHUR POPPINGTON, is a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as “DEFENDOR” and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch enemy CAPTAIN INDUSTRY.

In his attempts to combat crime and bring down this drug and weapons dealer, whom he mistakenly blames for the death of his mother, Defendor ends up befriending a young prostitute.

Armed with unconventional weapons like marbles and paper clips, and with his new friend by his side, Defendor proves that everyone is capable of making a difference as he puts his life on the line and foils the entire crime operation.”

Look for “Defendor” to hit theaters in the US on February 26.

Wow, Woody is back! And in costume this time… I’m thinking Captain of Industry must be Arthur Frobisher.

Ugh, another half comedy, half serious and warmhearted poke at the superhero/vigilante can that surprise surprise has a socially awkward/mentally unstable hero that befriends a young girl…

I really like Harrison’s acting, but not enough to watch this formulaic story.

This movie really isn’t formulaic at all. Check out my review at themoviebros.wordpress.com
