Verizon and Skype Sitting In a Tree, So On and So Forth

A bit of MWC news that’s actually applicable to the US. Huzzah!

Skype and Verizon Wireless announced today that an exclusive Skype mobile app would be available for 3G smartphone users with data plans. No need to connect over Wi-Fi to use said app and there’s even unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls. I’m not entirely sure how much Verizon charges for international calls but you have the option to initiate calls via Skype as well using your existing credits. IMs work, too.

The first batch of Verizon 3G devices to receive the update next month include the BlackBerry Storm 9530, Storm2, Curve 8330, Curve 8530, 8830 World Edition, Tour 9630, Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris and the Motorola Devour.
