By now, you’ve probably seen this strange video of Kirsten Dunst running around Tokyo clad in a tutu and offensive Japanese stereotypes.

Yes, I’m sure Mary Jane lovin’, anime fantisizin’, middle aged men everywhere are having the best day of their lives, but please excuse me as I have a WTF? moment.

Earth to Kirsten Dunst: Were you dropped on your cute, little, blue-haired head?

Probably, but it was artist Takashi Murakami (think: Warhol of contemporary Japanese art) who commissioned the video of Dunst prancing around to The Vapors’ Turning Japanese. McG (Teriminator: Salvation, Charlies Angels: Full Throttle) directed the four-minute Asian pop explosion littered with street ninjas, dance breaks and risque anime. Anime boobie warning: Don’t pull a David Kiely and watch this in plain sight during work.

Yeah, it’s a little sexually offense – there is so much more to Japan than smutty cartoons with large eyes – but let’s be frank: with McG at the helm, what did we expect? This was just another excuse for him to pan his cameras across another chest. But it’s all in the name of art, right?

Wrong. I’m sure we all remember the little franchise Charlie’s Angels, but this, I had to pull out of my Shit-I-never-want-to-see-again archive.

Please, let me be clear. My problem is not that this is sexual. It’s that it’s uninventive and unintelligent.

So what’s with all the dumbed down sexiness, McG? I’m half-disappointed half-surprised you didn’t strip Christian Bale down in slowmo during a rain storm.

Art, my ass.
