Upcoming superhero film tidbit, #486: Today, Warner Bros. announced that Greg Berlanti will direct upcoming film The Flash, which is set to be released in 2011. If you remember yesterday, we got word that David Goyer has signed on to pen the new Superman script, news that came just a week or so after we learned that Christopher Nolan will play mentor to the Man of Steel.
Holy retirement plan, Batman: Just days after an Action Comics #1 sold for just over $1 million, its short-lived record has been broken. According to Bleeding Cool, a copy of Detective Comics #27 just sold for $1,075,500. Yeesh. The comic features the first appearance of Batman, and previously, it was purchased for $600 in 1960.
Nerdy Want: These laptop sleeves are made from recycled bits of wetsuits (100 percent salvaged nylon neoprene) by LooptWorks. They sell in 15- and 17-inch sizes and go for $30 and $35, respectively.
Alice, after hours: Over at Newsarama, the first issue of Alice-themed Return to Wonderland, a mature comic series is free via online player. The story centers around Alice’s daughter Calie, who struggles with her mother’s (Alice) mental illness. The whole world is on an Alice kick lately. Check it out.
