Today in Techland: In case you’re living under a rock, actually nope, Disney probably checked there. Well as everyone knows, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland opens today and because we love you, we put together a history of Alice in Wonderland. Yep. You’re welcome. We also talk a bit of Alice on today’s Techland Show, so watch it so you can be smart like us. Speaking of movies, Steve’s oozing with excitement over Sunday’s Oscars. Love ’em too? Join Steve’s Oscar competition to see if you can beat a true movie geek.

So start pouring your Academy Award champagne. It’s Friday! And just in case…

Here’s what else is going on in nerd news around the Web:

Because Hollywood has zero new ideas: The Hollywood Reporter says that Matthew Greenberg (1408) has been tapped to write the rehash of 1989’s Pet Sematary. Why Paramount? Why?

Katy Perry in talks for Smurfs role she’d be just terrible for: New casting news for the upcoming Smurfs movie: Collider is reporting that Alan Cumming, George Lopez, Jonathan Winters and train wreck pop tart Katy Perry? This movie is seriously going to suck.

Chuck, Heroes renewals? NBC exec Angela Bromstad told The Hollywood Reporter that next year looks pretty hopeful for another season of Chuck and that Heroes is a “wait-and-see.” Hmm. Wonder what that means? Does anyone speak TV exec?

The list narrows: Today we crossed two names off of the Captain America Hopefuls list. John Krasinski (The Office), Scott Porter ( Friday Night Lights, Caprica), Mike Vogel (She’s Out of My League, Cloverfield) Michael Cassidy (Smallville) and Patrick Flueger (Brothers, The 4400), Chace Crawford (Gossip GirlGarret Hedlund (Tron Legacy). Gettin’ closer, kids.
