Today in Techland: Where in the world is Techland? Peter and Evan are still at the Game Developers Conference in San Fran, Steve is in D.C. and Lev is too far down the hall for me to see. Still, Douglas had an awesome chat with the hilarious Patton Oswalt while I got to chat up TV exec Ken Biller.

Here’s what else is going on in nerd news around the Web:

Super Jim!: Looks like the he’s done it, folks. Office star John Krasinski is rumored to have the role of Captain America in the bag, according to Collider. While I think he’s got an uphill battle ahead of him, not to mention one hell of a physical transformation, I’m thankful, at least that they hired an actor and not just a body. Update: And just like that it appears that Krazinski is out of the running. According to Deadline, Mike Vogel (Cloverfield), Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy) and Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) are Marvel’s top picks at the moment to play Steve Rogers. Not that it matters, but IMDB has Krazinski and Vogel attached to the Captain America project as rumored stars. More as we get it. – Peter

PlayStation comes in first: Today Sony announced that The PlayStation Network became the first online medium to sell high-def movies from all the major studios (Fox, Disney, Paramount, Sony (duh), Universal and Warner). Even better for Sony? The PlayStation 3 will be 3D compatible soon. Hello, Avatar at home.

Yikes: Avatar‘s creepy captain Stephen Lang has confirmed his role in the upcoming flick Conan. And he’s a villain, of course. Said Lang: ā€œIā€™m going to cut the nuts off of Conan and his father.” Yep.

Oops: Amazon oversold the Marvel Omnibus comics resulting in this email in the inboxes of many disappointed potential customers:

Unfortunately, due to a pricing error, we sold many more than expected. In fact, we completely sold out ā€” we don't have any in stock right now, and we're not even sure if we'll be able to get more.

I'm sorry I don't have better news. We hope to see you again soon.

As a result, we've had to cancel your order. I realize this is disappointing news, and I'm so sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

You may want to check our website from time to time to see if this item is available. If anyone is selling it, you'll see a "More Buying Choices" box on the product detail page; if it's not available from any sellers, you might see an "Order it used" or "Alert me" link. "Order it used" allows you to place a pre-order for the item in case another seller lists the item for sale later. "Alert me" allows you to sign up so we can e-mail you when Amazon has stock available for purchase.
