Today in Techland: It’s Talk Like An Irishman Day here in Techland (so basically, it’s Wednesday) plus it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Man, oh man. To celebrate, we’re bringing you the typical holiday-themed blog posts: St. Patrick’s Day Kit for drying your soaked cell, the history of Lep lore and my unexplained love of those tacky Leprechaun horror films. Raise your glass and attempt to read this, techies.

Here’s what else is going on in nerd news around the Web:

Penny, part two?? (Squeal!) In an interview, Nathan Fillon gave a few details about the much anticipated Dr. Horrible sequel.

I have to ask about the Dr. Horrible sequel. Any new word on when that might go down?
NF: No new word yet. Joss [Whedon] and company, they are on top of it. They’re playing with it when they have time on their hands. It’s a busy group right there. Neil Patrick Harris, also, very busy.

NPH is such a slacker, he really needs to work a bit more.
NF: Right? Get some talent, Neil. If only he was diverse. And Felicia [Day] is doing her own web series, very busy. Castle ties me up a little bit. We’ll find time when we can all get together. It’s going to be amazing.

It has begun: Ian McKellen told Collider that filming for the The Hobbit will begin this June in New Zealand, and that like any true Jackson epic, it will take just over a year to wrap. Excited?

Well hello, brilliance: How are you today? Stick it out for the full effect. You won’t be sorry.

Droid lovers, listen up: Android 2.1 will deploy to a a select group of Verizon test users tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned.

The Queen plays The Queen: Sci-Fi royalty Sigourney Weaver is set to play the supreme vampire in Amy Heckerling’s Vamps, alongside Alicia Silverstone (Clueless).

Review: Soulo Converts iPad into Karaoke Machine

Karaoke lovers typically fall into two categories: Those who enjoy it, and those whose arms have to be twisted to get up and sing in public. Enter Soulo, a software and microphone kit that can turn an iPad or other Apple device into a karaoke machine. It gives you instant karaoke in the privacy of your own home, or wherever you carry your Apple gadgets. That’s the idea, anyway.
