Okay, now we’re talking. Samsung just announced an impressive little number in the Galaxy S, a 3G smartphone running Android 2.1 with a 1GHz processor and a 4-inch 800×480 AMOLED screen.

Other features include a “Daily Briefing” app that shows weather, news, stocks, and scheduling information, DLNA home networking compatibility, Swype keyboard, Office 2007 support, GPS, b/g/n Wi-Fi, 720p video playback and recording, 5-megapixel camera, augmented reality browser, and Samsung’s “Social Hub” which aggregates social networking feeds.

The phone itself will measure 2.52 inches wide by 4.82 inches long by 0.39 inches thick—so it’s pretty thin but a bit wider and longer than most phones in order to make room for the big 4-inch screen.

No pricing, availability, or carrier partnerships were announced except to say that the phone “will be available in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, and Asia soon.” It’s a GSM phone, which means we’ll see it here in the US on T-Mobile, AT&T, or both.
