8 Netbooks Worth Buying Right Now

Tablets like Apple’s iPad will soon be all the rage, but netbooks are still holding strong and demand doesn’t appear to have dropped off drastically from last year. So we’ve compiled eight of the best and brightest available today. Each netbook on the list has a screen larger than 1024×600 because anything smaller just wouldn’t seem right. The majority of our picks are running Windows 7 but a few Windows XP holdouts made the cut with prices starting out at $350.

Enjoy.

I have always been interested in trying to stick OS X on one of these things. A buddy of mine claims he did it but I have never seen it run.
    Any thoughts?

There are plenty of ways to hackintosh a netbook.

I wish you would offer the option to view your “galleries” as one page. I often skip these features when I see that I’m going to have to page through an unspecified number of pages (waiting for each to load). I’m guessing this one has 8 pages, but most of the time, there is no indication of how long they are.

@bignumone, the knowledge is out there, the Apple Clone maker might have been put out of business the Hackintosch movies and the manuals could be find easily. Sometimes you need to change the Wifi card for an compatible one, that is about it. But still, even a Macbook Air is in a matter of fact a pain in the neck and that still has 2 GB of memory and a reasonable decent hard disk as well a reasonable processor. I can’t imagine that working on a “hackbook” would be fun in the end it is still rubbish. Just spend a few dollars more on a real notebook and if you like to but a hackintosh OS on it, at least you have some good time using it.

@thaibarbarian I get your comment, but you just misunderstand my motivation.
I enjoy taking technology and forcing it to do things it doesn’t want to do. For instance, I put OS X (version 10.0, BTW) on a 7600 power pc with a sonnet upgrade card. It hated it, but I did it just to make it do something it didn’t like.
Before airport, I forced a power pc 8400 (I think it was) to accept a wireless card. Heh heh, that was fun in a sadistic sort of way.
So you see, although I own several mac laptops (Macbook/macbook pro/powerbook) and mac desktops, I thought it might be fun to put OS X on a PC. I could do it to one of my desktops, but having it run a netbook would be extra fun in my opinion. (Don’t ask me why, it just would be). I am thinking ASUS seashell 1201N, but I have to see if I need a new septic system first. ( Another story, another day.)

KJFisher: I run Linux machines, big and small, and I turn html, images, and ads off when I’m searching the web. This method cut-out the crap one is faced with on blogs like this one.
