In Which Penny Arcade Picks the Championship Monster Madness Matchup

So, Tycho and Gabe from Penny Arcade dropped by the offices earlier this week in between book tour duties and we decided to ask them to pick the winners of our Final Four matchups for Monster Madness. Well, we asked them a bunch of stuff. This is the first of many Penny Arcade-related stories we have banked. Expect a few more next week.

I dunno, as much as I love PA, I think they got it wrong. First off, the competition between D.V. and Voldemort would be close. Very close. They are both very similar in abilities, Darth Vader would have his force powers, Voldemort would be able to use the Avada Kadavara spell without having to say a word. Darth Vader may be able to Force sense what Voldemort was going to do but any actions he took would be somewhat moot since eventually Voldemort, if killed, would just come back and try again and again. Those Horcruxes are a big factor I think and one that would probably tip it in Voldemort’s favor.

The Reapers would outmatch Luthor in numbers and technology. Luthor is resourceful, but not even Shepherd would be able to take on the Reapers alone as Luthor would be doing. The Reapers would send in the Collectors with their paralyzing bugs and failing that guns would be blazing. Luthor may be able to use some of his companies technology to overcome them for a while, but the sheer numbers of the Collectors combined with the Reapers and possibly some geth thrown in would be too much for Luthor to stand against for any prolonged period. Also, should Luthor attempt to board a Reaper ship they’d probably just co-opt him as they did Saren.

The thing about Voldemort though is that he’s in a story for children, which I think knocks him down a few (thousand) pegs.
