Not all of us have the prowess to claim superhero status, but at least we can’t say we don’t have access to the accessories.

If you’re an aspiring vigilante channeling Kick-Ass, or even if you’ve just run out of bottled chaos, fly on over to the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. Pick out a new cape ($22 – $35), a U.S. index of good and evil ($15) or pick up a few things for the lair. The store’s clerks treat all visitors as real superheroes in the need. In the market for a mind reader? They’ve got one for $99. BSSC’s charms even extend to a one-of-a-kind cape testing wind tunnel – a collection of fans on a pedestal.

In genuine superhero fashion, BSSC has its own secret identity – and if you haven’t perfected yours, let them help. The store is a front for nonprofit organization 826NYC, which offers writing assistance to school-aged kids in the Brooklyn area. (Students enter the tutoring center via a secret swinging bookcase.) Chapters have also sprung up in other cities, like San Francisco, where 826 Valencia hides behind a Pirate Supply Shop – a one-stop-plunder for all your pirating needs.

I think I’ve found Techland’s ComicCon garb, guys. Who wants to see Lev in tights?
