Once in a while you need a swift kick to the derrière to put things back into perspective. It seems like fanboys, tech pundits and tech journos have been bickering back and forth about the iPad for months. Can it do this? Can it do that? Why doesn’t it have this? You get the picture.

Now watch this video of Virginia Campbell.

She’s 99 years old and lives in Lake Oswego, OR, and the iPad is her very first computer. Campbell suffers from glaucoma, so you can imagine how difficult it would be to read any sort of text on a traditional desktop or laptop or Kindle. Campbell’s daughter and son-in-law purchased one for her on launch day and she’s been giddy ever since, showing it off to whomever drops by. Here’s what Campbell had to say about the iPad:

To this technology-ninny it’s clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
Of this Apple iPad pioneer.
