With floppy disk drives long gone, someone on Reddit poses an interesting question: How much longer will the 3.5-inch floppy disk represent the “save” icon in most computer programs?
You have to think that eventually it’ll get to the point when little kids using computers during their formative years will ask what the hell that little picture is supposed to be. If they haven’t asked already, that is.
So when will it be replaced and, perhaps more importantly, what image will be used to replace it? I’ll go ahead and place my bet now. I think it’ll be a little cloud with an up arrow. The cloud is so hot right now. So hot.
