Watch It While It Lasts: The Leaked Trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Super 8

I have no idea how long this will stay up, but it’s quite watchable, despite being shot in amateur unsteady-cam. Almost makes me wonder if it’s a deliberate leak. Apparently this is not a Cloverfield prequel …

It might be because it’s a bootleg but it feels very Cloverfieldesque, no?

    An article in Variety said:
“Bloggers claimed the film was a sequel to Abrams’ monster pic “Cloverfield,” when it is in fact an original pic based on an idea by Abrams, who is penning the script. Unlike “Cloverfield,” the pic will be shot conventionally, not with handheld cameras.”

It very well could be an intentional bootleg leak. Nobody seem to be able to create hype around their projects like JJ. And his projects are always interesting at the very least. Spielberg + JJ = well produced awesomeness.

Looks like a train wreck to me.

However, I will see anything by Abrams on the basis of his back catalogue.

I actually paid attention to this preview because I saw the magic word Speilberg. But all I saw was more evidence that J.J. is still watching the x-files. I’m slowly recovering from what Speilberg did to Indiana Jones, ( Indy is what defines the movie experience for me ;) but if he’s backing J.J, I will too. Hollywood has thrown out all imagination and originality, but there might still be some hope… we will see.
