It’s taken a decade, but it looks like Clark Kent is finally ready to assume his destiny as a man who wears his underwear on the outside with the news that Smallville‘s tenth season is to be its last.

The CW series has been on the bubble since creators Al Gough and Miles Millar left at the end of its seventh season along with original co-stars Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk, but despite a surprisingly strong showing on Friday nights this past year, the Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog is reporting that the CW will officially announce tomorrow that the show’s will finish with the conclusion of the upcoming season. Expect a final season filled with returning villains, guest-stars from the DC Universe (If nothing else, another Justice Society and/or Legion of Super-Heroes appearance) and, hopefully, at least one appearance of Clark in the Superman suit.

Of course, ending Smallville in spring 2011 could theoretically set the character up for his announced IMAX movie debut quite nicely. Wonder if Tom Welling is considering staying with the character even longer?
