Tethering Feature Spotted in iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4

Where were you when AT&T first promised that tethering would be available on the iPhone? It seems like eons ago now. Take heart, though, because a tethering option has been spotted in the beta version of the new iPhone operating system that’s set to reach consumers sometime next month.

Now before you get too excited, a similar feature was spotted in the beta for the current version of the iPhone operating system and never made it to the finished product. And from the looks of the above screenshot, this tethering option won’t be a freebie along with your current data plan—you’ll likely have to pony up extra to use it. I’d guess it’d be offered for an additional $30 per month judging by what carriers have charged for tethering in the past.
