Nine-year-old Makenzie Melton from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, was chosen as the national winner of this year’s Doodle 4 Google contest, which of course, means her winning doodle is now featured on Google.com.

Melton’s doodle beat out more than 33,000 submissions for this year’s contest themed, “If I could do anything I would…”
Makenzie’s Rainforest Habitat design was selected from more than 33,000 student submissions from all over the country. Aside from her Google.com display-for-a-day, Melton has won a $15,000 college scholarship, a netbook computer and a $25,000 technology grant for a new computer lab at her school. (Judges from this year’s contest included DC’s Jim Lee, Disney’s Andy Harkness and Pixar’s Bob Pauley.)
“I chose this doodle because the rainforest is in danger and it is not fair to the plants and animals. I love everything except spiders and snakes, but I would still save them.”
Yeah, Samuel L. Jackson kind of ruined snakes for us, too.
