I have to say, my favorite part had to be Benford's complete lack of phone tact while talking to Aaron from Afghanistan. Didn't he just sort of hang up on him without even saying goodbye, in the midst of Aaron spilling his guts about what were to him pretty profound truths? If it had been a comedy they could have cut back to Aaron after Benford confronted Hellinger, and showed that he was continuing to offer sage words without realizing he had been disconnected.
.
Actually, one thing I kind of wonder is if FlashForward would have had the balls to seriously shake things up for a second season- for instance dropping main characters whose stories had played out (Nicole, Bryce, Keiko, Aaron, probably Lloyd and Olivia, and most likely Mark-assuming he died). The remaining characters could have stayed on, but moved into the background, while new people with new Flashforwards became the focus of the next season, much as in The Wire. Now that would have been interesting- not that I would have expected it much after seeing what they did with the first season.
