Transformers director Michael Bay clearly wants to touch your childhood. How else to explain the fact that, in addition to his uber-successful movies about robots in disguise, he’s just signed on to produce the movie reboot for four well-known Heroes In A Half Shell?

Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes has been brought in to oversee Paramount’s planned relaunch of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, according to Deadline Hollywood, with Bay and partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form expected to start considering writers for the project within the next few weeks. Plans are already in place to have the new movie ready for summer 2012, coinciding with a new CGI television series about the characters, cementing them as the new toyetic action franchise of choice for tomorrow’s children and earning back the $60 million that Nickelodeon paid for the rights to the franchise in October last year.
