I wound up feeling two ways about it. One: The Wachowskis created a nice fusion of anime/manga tropes with really great special effects. For example, there were sections where characters were talking in multiple quadrants of the screen all while stuff was going on. So, from a design standpoint, tons of interesting stuff going on, including the sets and the cars. Two: The performances were really flat to me. Like flat that didn’t even work in an ironic way.

We’ll see if Scott Pilgrim suffers from any of that. Finally, the source material started the love affair way before the movie did.
