Deathly Hallows Epilogue Photos Leaked, Part Deux

Just a week ago, we got our first look at the anticipated epilogue scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when photos of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) and Bonnie Wright (Ginny) leaked online.

Did they look good? Some of you thought so, which makes me curious to read your reactions to this new crop of photos, fresh from the set of the eighth film. This go round we’ve got more of Radcliffe plus Emma Watson (Hermione) Rupert Grint (Ron) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), who in my opinion, I assumed would have aged much more gracefully given his social class. Ever heard of Botox, Draco? I’m sure there’s a magical equivalent.

My brother pointed it out to me and he was right: the last scene in Deathly Hallows takes place like 17-19 years later making all of these characters younger than me by a few years, around 36 or so. They look like they’re in their 50′s or 60′s. There’s still time to reshoot this mess. They need to get this right or it’s gonna leave the very last scene on the wrong note.

Meh, I wasn’t a huge fan of the epilogue to Deathly Hallows. It seemed really cheesy and too “happily ever after” for me.

  • Allie Townsend

@jeia56 – Totally agree. Harry should have one hell of a meth problem.

  • tereglith

The whole point of the epilogue was to ensure that any works concerning the return of Voldemort or some such nonsense would be strictly non-canonical. It was more of a technicality than anything else.

  • dawnschilde

I completely agree with jthomann, they all look like hell. I know they went through a war during their late teens but does that mean they can’t age well? Good grief! (Of course I could be bristling as they are supposed to be my age, and no one I know looks like this…)

  • noconfusion

I think they’re just trying to make the trio look older, not exactly 19 years older. They haven’t made the movies strictly canonical so far, so why do it now? Plus, the time inbetween when they finish Voldemort and when their own kids go off to Hogwarts doesn’t have any change in impact if it’s 19 years or 29 years.

  • planckzero

Why do they look older than people would expect from the books? There is only one answer really. a wizard did it.

  • richardsrussell

There’s actually another answer: They had kids; that’ll age anybody. 8^D

But let’s get real here! Sure, they look older than teenagers, but there’s not a gray hair or paunch or 2nd chin in the lot. They’re aging gracefully, but they are far, far away from being OLD. I think the make-up people are doing a splendid job.

Now, if you want to see BAD aging make-up, take a look at what’s supposed to be one of the classic films of all time, Citizen Kane. Absolutely ghastly.

  • jeia56

@Allie- Totally. Seth Grahame-Smith should write that book. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Crystal Meth.

  • Allie Townsend

    @jeia56 – I smell a best seller.

  • jthomann

I didn’t say the aging looked bad. I said the aging made them look way, way older than mid to late 30′s. Absolutely no reason for that amount of aging, canon or not. Are we really down to “either they look like teenagers or they look like AARP members”? Having kids does not make one look 20 years older than you are. I have 4, and at 38 I look roughly 30. The makeup people totally screwed the pooch on this one. Back to the drawing board, geniuses.

  • deedeer

Love it. Best series of our time and J.K. is amazing. So looking forward to these final movies.

  • jthomann

So totally off topic, deedeer. This isn’t about the books, which are amazing, or the movies thus far, which have been amazing. This is about the final image anyone will have from last movie they’ll make. Un-amazing. They screwed it up.
