This means the time in the flash-sideways would’ve need to jump ahead 3 years after the plane landed, b/c all the people were seeing stuff that happened to them on the island over those three years when the plane crashed. Do I know how the writers could’ve worked the flash-sideways into the regular main plot? No, b/c I’m not as smart of a writer as Damon and Carlton. The flash-sideways twist wasn’t the “ZOMG!!!!!11″ moment many fans wanted, but it could’ve been much worse. And I agree w/ toochivalrous (how can you be “too chivalrous”? I guess holding a door open for a lady or pulling a chair out for her is “lost” [LULZ, see what i did there?] this day in age) that many people didn’t get it and also probably built up the ending too much in their minds

I for one told people to remember the show is called LOST, not ISLAND, not DHARMA. Beating the bad guy or getting off the island or whatever else was envisioned wasn’t the point.

It wasn’t about what happens in life, but who we choose to be with the life we have and the relationships we cultivate. I find LOST much more cliche and the same old story without the flash sideways. I just feel bad for people who didn’t get that.
