More proof that all of your childhood is returning comes in the form of the announcement that Voltron is next in line for a multimedia revival. World Events Productions, the company that owns the rights to the giant robot defender, announced today that not only will Nicktoons premiere a new animated series called Voltron Force, but Mattel also plans to push the character back onto toy shelves, as well.
Voltron Force is going to be produced by Kickstart Productions, the company behind the recent Wolverine and the X-Men animated series, and – as has become the norm these days – combine 2D and CGI animation for 26 half-hour episodes of, as WEP’s announcement describes it, “robot lions in action.” The series is expected to debut next year, accompanied by Mattel’s new toyline.
