Two Minute Video: Should You Upgrade to the iPhone 4?

In case you missed it, Apple announced the new iPhone 4 yesterday. Here’s our liveblog, here’s video of the announcement, and here’s our hands-on, and here’s the specs sheet. The phone will be out at the end of the month with a starting price of $199 with a two-year AT&T contract. So if you’ve been waiting to get an iPhone, should you get the now-discounted iPhone 3GS for $99 or step up to the iPhone 4? And if you’re up for a contract renewal, should you drop $200 on the iPhone 4 when it comes out?

My contract is up in a month… I was under the impression that I could upgrade on the cheap, but you are saying I gotta lay down 200 bucks. Was I just way wrong? Did I misread Ha yesterday?

Yeah, $200 is the subsidized “cheap” price. If you weren’t up for a renewal the full, unsubsidized price is $600.

I’ve been holding out for an Android device on AT&T, and have obviously been disappointed (Motorola doesn’t count). I hate to say it, but the iPhone 4 looks pretty cool. I don’t think I’d be able to bring myself to support Apple by purchasing one, though.
