Though I’m still waiting for someone to reveal this all as one big joke, it looks as if I Kissed A Vampire really exists. Even more than that, it just had its own film premiere in Los Angeles.

Based on the web series by the same name, (There’s a web series, too?!) the campy vampy flick stars Lucas Gabreel (Milk, High School Musical) and Drew Seeley (Broadway’s A Little Mermaid), who also provided the voice for Zac Efron in High School Musical. I realize that these guys may be no one special to anyone minus a ponytail and a Trapper Keeper, but in the teen world, these guys are actually somebody. And yet, they’re staring in a vampire musical, that as far as I can tell, is serious.

Part High School Musical, part Twilight, I Kissed A Vampire is what would happen if Kenny Ortega and Stephanie Meyer ever reproduced. (We’ll call this hypothetical filmmaker’s nightmare, Kennphanie.) The worst part? If this fanged train wreck seemed snarky, satrical, or smart in any way, I probably totally be into it.

At least these vampires don’t sparkle in the sun. Sigh.
