While the new Xbox 360 S technically cannot RROD, it doesn’t mean it’s incapable of breaking down. The slimmed down version is ~17% smaller than the previous generation Xbox 360. Overall dimensions and weight are as follows:
Xbox 360: 310 x 80 x 260mm at 3.5kg (7.7lbs)
Xbox 360 S: 270 x 75 x 264mm at 2.9kg (6.4lbs)
According to a spec sheet sent into Joystiq, the new Xbox 360 S has a green “ring of light.” Phil Spencer, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Game Studios, has confirmed with IGN that any new hardware failures will be communicated via green lights. Whether or not it will be a GROD is anyone’s guess.
