HBO Surfs The Vampire Trend, Renews True Blood For Fourth Season

HBO invests further into this whole vampire craze, renewing vampire series True Blood just three weeks into its third season, The Hollywood Reporter claims.

With the Twilight and True Blood franchises at the beginning of their respective third installments of bloodsucking romance (and still the height of popularity), the decision seems like a no-brainer. True Blood, a world of grittier, sexier vampires, debuted its new season with a 38% increase in viewership compared with season two. Not too shabby. As of now, it looks like viewers will get a 12-episode fourth helping of the series next summer, and with Twilight set to unroll it’s last film in two parts – the latter sometime in 2012 – it’s safe to assume the vampire obsession at least has staying power to that point.
