We didn’t get a chance to go in-depth with Driver San Francisco during E3 last week, but the floor buzz on the driving action game was pretty good. The Driver series was an early pioneer in open-world game design, and was among the first to showcase jump-in, jump-out carjacking mechanics.Vodpod videos no longer available.
Like its predecessors, the new Driver aims to be all about the car chase. It’s set in San Francisco, calling back to that city’s presence in classic car chases from movies like Bullitt. It’s also delivering a Shift ability, which is a new evolution of the carjacking mechanic that lets players do a sort of quantum leap into almost any car in the game. Check out the trailer for a glimpse of what hero John Tanner’s up to next. We’ll have more on Driver San Francisco as development progresses.
