Kindle App Hits Android Market

And with that, Amazon’s Kindle platform slowly oozes its way into another crop of smartphone handsets. Android owners (version 1.6 and higher) can now download the Kindle app from the Android Market and synchronize books across all the other Kindle-infused gadgets strewn about the home.

Still no support for magazines or newspapers on anything but the actual Kindle hardware itself, but with this latest release the book portion of the equation has now spread to the iPhone and iPod Touch, Windows and Mac computers, BlackBerry handsets, and the iPad.

    The question people should be asking right now is when will Amazon feel they are available (and successful) on enough devices to no longer need the Kindle?
