Samsung N230 Netbook Boasts 13+ Hours of Battery Life

Expected to be available in July with a starting price of $399, Samsung’s 10-inch N230 netbook weighs in at just 2.2 pounds and is capable of 7 hours of battery life with the standard battery. Opt for the bigger, long-life battery and the company is claiming that the N230 “can be extended up to an amazing 13.8 hours” before needing to be recharged. No word on how much extra weight it’ll add, but I’d guess it probably still wouldn’t clear three pounds.

The 13.8-hour battery info comes from the Korean press release for the N230. The computer is also mentioned in a more broad US press release, although there’s no mention of the extended battery or 13+ hour battery life. Hopefully the US version of the N230 will have an extended battery option.

Aside from marathon battery life, the machine’s specs are pretty standard for a 10-inch netbook: Intel Atom N450 platform, Windows 7 Starter, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, and a way-too-restrictive 1024×600 resolution screen. It’s LED-backlit, though, which is nice.
