Restart the Bidding, Sex.com is Officially Up for Sale Again

Got way too much money burning a hole in your pocket? Sex.com is back on the auctioning block, officially being brokered by domain giant Sedo. Originally registered in 1994, the Sex.com domain name was put up for sale back in March of this year and fetched a million bucks just place a bid.

The company that owns the domain name, Escom, “was forced into bankruptcy proceedings by its creditors,” according to FindLaw, a setback which postponed the auction until recently.

A press release issued this morning, however, announced that the domain is back up for bids and will be brokered by Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Sedo, saying simply that “Parties interested in buying the Sex.com domain should contact Sedo at consult@sedo.com.”

Sex.com reportedly changed hands in 2006 for a cool $14 million, so it’s anyone’s guess what it’ll be able to fetch today.
