You know how you have to load batteries into products a certain way? Get ready to have your minds collectively blown. Microsoft has developed what it’s calling InstaLoad battery installation technology, “which allows users to easily install a battery without regard to positive and negative polarity.”
Finally, a lifetime of being shackled by the whims of battery compartment manufacturers will soon be coming to an end. The “patented battery contact design” is available for license, “with companies like Duracell already lining up to endorse the technology for use in their own products.”
From the looks of it, those little springs will be thrown out in favor of an agnostic connector on both ends of the battery compartment that can draw power from whichever end of the battery it’s touching. Behold the future.
