Curt Schilling won’t be eligible for Cooperstown until 2013, but he’s already a Hall-of-Fame nerd. The former Boston Red Sox pitcher has confessed his love for strategy board game Advanced Squad Leader and has been a regular EverQuest and World of Warcraft player. Even before he retired, Schilling formed 38 Studios (formerly Green Monster Games) in 2006 to fulfill a lifelong dream of making role-playing video games. And because he’s got super-deep pockets, Schilling recruited legendary fantasy author R. A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane, he of Spawn and Image Comics fame, to help flesh out those endeavors.

But terribly little’s been revealed about the labors going on in 38 Studios. According to the Comic-Con 2010 schedule, fans will finally be getting a peek at one of their games on Thursday the 29th:

World Premiere of the First Game From 38 Studios— Be among the first in the world to see the video game debut from Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios. Hear from the visionaries who have teamed up to create this highly anticipated RPG and the rich world it is set in, including 38 Studios’ executive art director Todd McFarlane (SpawnSpider-Man), executive creator of worlds R. A. Salvatore (Forgotten Realms), lead designer Ken Rolston (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), and founder and chairman Curt Schilling. Learn all about this ambitious new project as 38 Studios unveils the name of the game along with the world premiere of the game’s first trailer directed by McFarlane. Attendees will also receive a limited-edition poster.

38 Studios has two projects in development: Project Mercury and Copernicus. Copernicus will be a MMO that supposedly shares a universe with Mercury, which will be a single–player RPG. 38 Studios recently inked a deal with EA Partners to publish Project Mercury and the game’s being developed for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. More details and a trailer will be unveiled at Comic-Con in two short weeks.
