Not on board the Doctor Who lovefest yet (And after this weekend’s episode – which I’ll write about shortly – you really have no excuse)? Well, the BBC are making it very easy for you to join in: The DVD/BluRay release of the show’s fifth season won’t just feature all thirteen episodes of Matt Smith’s first year as the Doctor, it’ll also feature two brand-new mini-episodes written by showrunner Steven Moffat himself, called “Meanwhile, in the TARDIS.”

According to the LA Times’ Hero Complex, both shorts will be “drop-in moments that show what happens between the [broadcast] episodes,” presumably either filling in continuity gaps or featuring comedic asides between the Doctor and the mysterious-but-cute Amy Pond, although I’m holding out for a cameo from Rory in one of them… The sequences are said to be “newly filmed,” so at least we know they’re not just deleted scenes given a new spin.

Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Season is released in the US on November 9th.
