Comic-Con 2010 Exclusive: IDW Launches New Digital Partnership With Nokia

Even though Comic-Con 2010 is still hours away from officially opening, news has started to come from the event with the announcement that IDW Publishing is extending its digital reach by being the first comics publisher to offer titles through Nokia’s Ovi Store.

Nokia have created a custom app for the launch of the publisher’s line, with Transformers, GI Joe, Star Trek and Astro Boy comics included amongst the more than 120 launch comics available (More titles will follow; each issue will be available as an individual app). Jeff Webber, IDW’s Director of ePublishing, is excited about the partnership:

We worked together with Nokia to define a top-tier comic app and their technology team quickly put together an excellent solution. Nokia’s expertise allows us to exploit the strongest capabilities of their Symbian technology and ensure that the experience is consistent for all users.

Devices listed by IDW as supporting the apps include the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia5530 XpressMusic, Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, and Nokia X6.
