Will Mark Ruffalo Be The New Bruce Banner Within 12 Hours?

It’s the announcement that everyone will be waiting for at Comic-Con today: Now that Joss Whedon has confirmed that he’ll be directing The Avengers in 2012, will Mark Ruffalo be announced as Ed Norton’s replacement Bruce Banner? Deadline Hollywood is reporting that he will – and that he’ll also appear alongside the other Avengers actors (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Helmsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and the newly-confirmed – Whedon can’t help himself! – Jeremy Renner) onstage during the Marvel Studios panel this afternoon. I’m not convinced about that last part, if only because Evans has already missed Scott Pilgrim promotional activities at the con because, according to director Edgar Wright, he’s in London filming Captain America; would Marvel really fly him transatlantic just for a one panel appearance and announcement, especially to confirm something that most people already “know”? But I’m tempted to believe that Ruffalo will be officially confirmed as the new alter ego of the incredible Hulk – making the character the filmic equivalent of a Spinal Tap drummer, apparently. Keep your eyes on this blog for news as we know it.
